At least, for now, sidewalks and most of the concrete locations of Hart Plaza are shovelled. Some may still have ice and snow packed on them, but otherwise the snow is off to the side and the walkways can still be used to traverse from Jefferson and the Financial District to the Riverfront. Its not been the same since the border was effectively closed between cities, but still it can draw people in summer. Though, as if in spite of the weather, or to beat the upcoming artic blast predicted for the weekend, there are a few folks out. One of those is Dave, in a thick carhart jacket, thick black gloves and a stocking cap, he's out here near the sculpture in the center of Hart Plaza. There is a busker playing a voilin with finger gloves and doing a pretty good job, only when people are around to preserve heat; probably hoping more coins come in due to the weather even.

He listens as if curious for what the music will do to him, but humphs after a moment, a grumpy little growl, and turns to leave the area, kicking a loose piece of ice and not watching where he is kicking it too for the moment.

*

Minsun ran a little hot anyway but she loved the colder weather and gloried in the feeling of the icy coolness in the air as she breathed it in. Refreshing. Clean? It certainly felt like it. Ungloved hands are lifted and she glides them down her cheeks, doing away with the cold and warming her cheeks. Her boot steps are the only thing breaking the silence of her world. Until she hears the music followed immediately by the kicked ice. Hm. Watching as the ice careens out, she frowns at it, her brow furrowed, and she reaches out a hand to dissolve it before thinking better of it and jumping over it to let it land wherever its path will go, more amused for the moment at the growl coming from the kicker. "Your aim is off."

*

"Story of my life," retorts Dave in the instant, having noticed a moment later the move to avoid the ice. Less concern to apologies in the moment, he then looks up with a pause. As if not expecting to see this person who responded, then half grinning as if forced. "Sorry, I'll try harder to get you next time." Then it melts a little, the off nature and the smile shows geniune intent. "I should have looked before I kicked, wasn't expecting to many faces in the crowd today." He holds up too gloved hands and looks around, showing that sort of brow lifting feigned surprise that so many people are in the plaza today. That is, if he meant by the so many comment the no more than dozen people in the entire park itself. At least some are nearby walking about the plaza around the scuplture that turns fountain come summer.

*

"You certainly have to try harder than that. I've got moves you've not seen." Minsun is completely joking around which could likely be measured in the amused look she sends him. "I am not just another face in the crowd of so many gathered in the plaza. The musician? He displeased you as well? Perhaps a public place is not the place to go to find.. not so public a place?" The smile remains, a genteel look that holds only valid curiosity.

*

That smile wavers on and off a little, as if weighing the words she gives to him. Gloved hands eventually find the front pockets on that brown coat/jacket he's wearing. Not like super heavy coat, but certainly made to be warm for weather such as this. "You got me there, definitely not a face in the crowd." Concurred, he looks at her eyes s moment then back towards the musician, and shrugs to her comment about his displeasure. "Right, like middle of the forest somewhere, no people." But he's turning back his smile returning as he notes her curiousity. "I mean, my luck today though, there'd be a dozen tourists taking pictures of the spot I found to be alone." Another shrug, "Can't beat them, can't join them. Maybe I should adapt, you're good at this people interaction stuff, you could give me more pointers." An offer, a challenge?

*

His uncertainty only succeeded in bringing Minsun a touch nearer to try and figure him out with that wavering smile and wish to be alone. A corner of her lips twitches upwards at what she takes to be a grudgingly given compliment in regards to her face in the crowd. "There are quieter places to go. More abandoned places, if that was what you were seeking. Careful though, I hear there are mutants out there. Of course, I could accompany you," jumping at the challenge, "If it would not disrupt your solitude, of course." A challenge given back, perhaps.

*

He takes a step closer himself, to make it more conversational distance versus too stranges keeping space. Dave listens and looks at the city, then considers and nods, "Yeah, maybe a quieter place would be better." Then his eyes fall back to her, after considering a number of place, maybe he knows or ponders that could be out there. "Nah, altered humans? Don't bother me, just bad luck on a bad day, no one chose it." He broadens the speculation not just altered humans but others too. "Maybe I should be careful around you, or you around me … but you're giving me focus, if you want to try it?" Joining him that is, he turns to see where she might start walking and, if she waits, he'll pick a direction to find some quiet spot.

*

With no qualms about being able to take care of herself, Minsun finds no issue in following along with a man she knows nothing about. Her hands remain free from any confines of her pockets though, dangling there at her sides. "Bad luck on a bad day. I think I like that and I may steal it." A slight smile tossed towards him, she waits for him to lead the way, opting not to meander in her own direction and instead take his with him. "I am Minsun," she even bows her head as she gives her name, a sort of reverent gesture to giving away her identity to the man.

*

Just before he starts walking she makes teh comment about stealing it, which gives Dave half a pause. "See, I knew there was something troubling about you," that she's stealing. As much as she meant it metaphorically, or more as a compliment to the idea to borrow it, he's joking certainly even though his smile is closer to deadpan in accusation. But a slight grin, he turns towards the River Walk itself, South and west, as if to head towards Cabo Center which is mostly closed other than food near the people mover stop, the walk should be dead if they stay outside. Her bow catches him, she doesn't have an accent so he wasn't expecting anything like that. Which causes him to nod his head a little as if trying out the same reverance of a gesture but awkwaardly. "Uh, Dave." He blinks. Then he begins to move properly, or walk slowly at least. "So, you got me, out in the cold to be away from people, what's your excuse?"

*

"Troubling.." Deciding she liked that word associated with her Minsun gives a decisive nod before offering him a more tentative smile. "Perhaps I will occupy your mind then, troubling you, while you try and clear it from whatever else sends you to this self imposed reverie in being without other people." Her steps follow along with his, meandering or quick, whatever pace he sets she manages to follow. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Dave. That is all. The only reason for getting away from the square. You looked or sounded unhappy and I was curious what the ice had done to you that you would kick it. Are you angry?" Which is odd for her to ask, Miss Angry herself more often than not.

*

Heading away from the sculpture and violin player, who is taken a break to use hands to light and hold a cigarette, Dave looks at her as much as the way forward. More forward, sidelong at her as she talks. "I think you already are Minsun, and you just might like that." He feigns an incredulous quality to his voice, like no surprise but surprised. "Infamy, the infamous Minsun, luring strangers to the river to strangle them." A pause, "Nah, the stealing, like uh … catpurse. I have no jewels for you today." Seems he does better with less focus his way, or talking to someone. He inhales a moment, breathes out his nostrils, sending tendrils of hot breath into the air to whirl about before disappating. "Yeah, I don't know, not angry. The ice did nothing. I thought the music would be nice, cheer up a little, but it didn't help so I kicked the ice. It didn't help eitehr. Just off day I guess, like need to do something, don't know what to do. Caged up in the snow." A squint, he looks over the river at Windsor there, isolated with the borders closed. Then down at the ground, "WHich is odd, I like snow, I like being outside. I just need to move around I guess. You got me doing that."

*

Holding onto her own silence for the moment, Minsun hears him out both amused and equally intrigued by his soliloquy. His observations are spot on though and it serves to offer her self reflection in return. "Perhaps it is your time and attention I am stealing. After all, I am getting it for nothing in return. Even without you offering it on your own I have gained it somehow. I have no intention to squander it." As he exhales and brings the whisps and curls, she watches in silence until it had disspiated. Giving his words back to him at his seeming dissatisfaction she studies him a moment before responding. "Perhaps your melancholy is another dose of bad luck on a bad day?"

*

A momentary pause, he considers her stealing and him giving, "So it was your trickery Minsun." An accusation with no weight other than a tease perhaps from Dave as they walk. Nah, I mean it costs you nothing, but I'm more … lively, I guess?" Chewing on the right words, he rolls eyes slowly with the thought, "Or less a grump." Then a nod, that's better, and a half grin her way. "So you're cost is good company, and its pretty good from where I'm standing." He looks at her, and down, as if teasing, but not really. Then a nod back to looking as they turn towards the Cabo Center along the Riverwalk. "Yeah, maybe just that, a run of bad luck, but seems you pulled me away from it. My hero. Catpurse by night, rescuer of frumpy melancholy strangers by day. Or, part of your sinsiter trap, but I'm good with it. Willing victim."

*

"I would not say a hero… not exactly." Minsun interjects with a look of self directed wariness. "It is like you say. Bad luck on a bad day. It can change the direction of anyones life and the next page of their story. Though admittedly, I have no idea where my story may have gone, it is now forever changed. And tonight? Now I have met you, perhaps that is another change, another chapter in the story of a book that will become my life over time. Not a literal written book, but chapters and pages all the same."

*

Dante arrives from the People Mover.

*

Dante has arrived.

*

Closer to the Riverwalk itself, walking away from the fountain plaza and busker, Dave and Minsun are walking along the shovelled portion of the walk in conversation. His hands in the pockets of a tan carheart, hands covered with gloves the same, he looks forward to watch his step with an occasional sideglance to Minsun as they converse.

"Yeah, a book, feels like some of my chapters got ripped out somedays as I'm trying to write new ones." A shrug from his arms along his sides, but no removing hands, they seem comfortable tucked in like that. "See, good or bad or happenstance or dumb luck, just talking to someone, maybe that's the nudge to not think about the book. Like, too busy writing today to just live the story?" He wobbles his head like someone else was chiding him on his busy writing and not living, a parent or school teacher figure maybe.

*

Her steps continue to match his own as she remains walking nearby, at his side. Minsun queries after a moment of silence, "I hope dumb luck varies from bad luck in this book? That each adjective has its own meaning that differs from others." Her boots make a soft sound as they walk and she continues with her hands untucked from her pockets with no gloves on. "Do you ever just live the story or allow it to write itself?"

*

Walking out of a nearby building is Dante Anderson. He wears the dark green jacket that someone might wear in the military or to reflect past military service. A marine corps badge is on the shoulder, and his blue eyes search the premisis. Though, as he walks, he's not particularly looking where he's going and might accidentally walk into Dave!

But, he manages to stop himself at the last possible moment. "Woah, sorry about that." He looks between Dave and Minsun, rubbing the back of his neck.

*

Half looking towards Minsun, Dave misses Dante leave the nearest building as the other man comes onto the Riverwalk. "I want to, just live …" His response starts, but is cut short, even as Dante stops with a whoah, he's turning to the nearby Dante and his arms come up as if to make a barrier, or catch the man should they bump. "See, everyone's a little off in their thoughts today." As if Dante's near collision proves that Dave isn't the only one out wool gathering even. He shakes his head, feeling rude for addressing her on the topic instead of Dante the near collider, "Its good, you okay?" As if more distraction from his earlier thoughts, maybe this guy isn't doing so good. He does take note of the green jacket and the Marien Emblem, the only thing he'd recognize military wize if its a real jacket.

*

"Sometimes the story can consume you, fully and all encompassing. Perhaps just living it is not the answer, because them you surrender control of it." Making a point in the near collision between the two men. With her two cents offered, Minsun gives a brief glance between the two, gauging their familiarity, if there is any to gauge. Her head bobs, chin dipping to offer a nod to the newest arrival, but ceasing her walking all together as Dave does. The military emblem and coat not something she immediately recognizes either. "No apologies necessary. Bad luck on a bad day." Making the comment before turning an amused look to Dave.

*

It was a very subtle thing, but Dante sensed something…interesting about Dave. Possibly. He's not entirely sure, but he had this feeling that he knew he should've ran into Dave, and it wasn't based on luck that they gladly avoid collision. "Huh." is all Dante says, before he chuckles and shakes his head. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. I'm built sturdy. I'm the one who should be asking if you're okay." and Dante was a big dude. In height and in terms of musculature.

But he does look to Minsun, giving her a gentle nod. "No kidding. It's just been one of those weeks ya know? Meetings and work pileup galore."

*

"Don't surrender, but take moments to live it too," Dave nods slowly, putting together the puzzle that is Minsun, or at least how he's taking the advice on living and book writing. In good spirits. Dave does nod towards Dante in agreement, "Yeah, I'm good, I'm built with, ugh, natural padding so I'm good for a few big fellas colliding with me. I think we're good though. Bad luck on a bad week maybe," he continues that thought, "I bet, my only work pile up is winter coats right now, and if we do that its … more slacking off." A grin, more a grin than he's had at least. "I'm not evnvious of meetings I'll admit. Unless its to shake bad luck," a little glance accusingly at Minsun from Dave on that las thtought.

*

Minsun cannot help it. Her eyes drop down to the middle of the figure that makes up Dave when he mentions the natural padding. It had gone unnoticed until now with his jacket he'd been wearing. While the two talk, she transfers her gaze to Dante as well, taking him in for a moment, tilting her head way back to take in his height and chiseled frame. After a moment of silence, she bows her head to offer, "I am Minsun." Again, her identity is given, but like before sans last name. "We were just walking, if you would care to join us?"

*

Dante looks at Minsun before he replies to Dave, giving her a soft smile. "Dante. Nice to meet you Minsun. Well, if you don't mind one more, I sure wouldn't mind rolling with you guys." he then looks to Dave. "Well, as long as you're okay." he shrugs wit ha bit of a smirk. "Well, Lead on then. Long as you don't think three's a crowd." just in case he's accidentally like, interrupting a date or something.

*

A look to Dante then Minsun, questioning, but he concurs, "Not a crowd, three is manageable I think. Especially if you want to take your mind off meetings and work." He joins in the greetings, "Dave here, Dave from Cass City." As if that helps, "That's just north, middle of the Peninsula on Huron there." So they don't think he's from the north part of Michigan at least, heaven forbid, they're practically Canadian up there. "Maybe three is just right. But this crowd, we may like the snow, but we're hoping for a little warm up sooner rather than later right? That could be a deal breaker for the group." He's joking, via the way of ice breaking, or his little social chuckle may indicate at least.

*

"So you're not a Yooper. You're from the right side of the Mackinac Bridge." Minsun observes to Dave. "I was mostly from Pontiac and Detroit except a few years I spent in Flint." She falls into step once more, back on the same side as she has been of Dave, letting Dante fall in wherever he likes. "I am no rush for the warming up. The snow is best.".

*

Dante puts his hands in his pockets and he walks beside Minsun, with dave on the other side of the young lady. He does seem to nod though. "Nice to meet you, Dave from Cass City." because Dante needs to throw in a dad joke for almost no reason. "I've pretty much always lived here in detroit. Except for when I was a marine. I lived in various places around the world. Then, well, time to retire." he shrugs. Dante smiles to Minsun, and nods to Dave. "HOneslty, I really enjoy the cold. I like snow and coming home to a warm fireplace. The Summer is just dreadful." he laughs just a bit.

*

"Definitely the right side of the bridge," agrees Dave, "And you're mostly a city girl. Two different worlds," he says and whistles as if a shame. But he shrugs shoulders, and his hands ahve somehow found their way back into his pockets, as if nothing to do with them. Another short chuckle at the dad joke. "That'll stick, the DCC it is, I'll roll with it." A grin lingers and he nods, "So like good to be back here, home and all?" From the marines, sounds like the guy did it awhile, then his face scrunches, "I'm good with the first snow or three, and getting out to enjoy quiet time in the woods in a heavy snow. The campfire is good too, see its about warming up from the snow. But if I had to pick, a good fall for me, even crisp enough to start freezing the surface, cool but warm sun during the days, and campfires at night."

*

"You retired? You must be fairly old then. You hold your age well." Her tone holds no insult, just observation as Minsun makes the connection to retiring and the amount of time it takes. "I like Detroit. I did not like Flint or Pontiac. I have spent a lot of time in this city, in all various parts of it." Her eyes flicker to Dave and something he says, "You like fire?"

*

Dante just chuckled. "Well, there is a pretty good variation of the word 'retire'. I was honorably discharged due to injury. Though when the leg healed up, I didn't decide to try and get back in. I enlisted when I was 18. I'm 27." Pretty good tenure…considering the mortality rate for Marines.

but, Dante shrugs, before he hums. Minsun's question does make him turn his attention from Dave to Minsun and back again. Is Minsun a pyro?

*

"Too many meetings and workloads out here, no need to add more by signing back up," he questions but more a joke than anything else towards Dante. Dave does turn and listen to Minsun about the city, "I'll have to ask you for directions if I get lost." He's not native to Detroit, he exlcaimed it with the moniker from Cass City. "Yes, who doesn't," returns the man to Minsun, "I mean, I'm good with cold and snow, can't enjoy a good warming up with out that, but really, a nice fire at night. Warm up a little, or bonfire, keep your friends warm. And some wood, just the way it smells in the right fire." He shrugs, "Probably too much information but I'm on that one, fire is good … even for the environment sometimes." As if raising a point, then letting it drop cause not everyone wants to hear about it.

*

Dante has partially disconnected.

*

"In more rural areas, fire is used for rebirth. Large areas of dead overgrowth is burned and when it goes away, everything comes back all fresh and green. I would say it is good for the environment." Minsun gives a smile of approval to Dave before swiveling her attention to Dante in response. "After an injury, I would assume that the reason you joined in the first place may have changed. Things happen for a reason. I tell myself that always, especially when there is no explanation." Another curious look is turned to Dave. "I would be a tour guide if you were interested?"

*

Dante seems to smirk very lightly. "I was very gung-ho when I first joined. Wanted to fight off at all the bad guys. Getting shot reminded me that I'm not immortal." He shrugs. "Hey, a tour would be good Dave. I'd take her up on that." Dante teases. "I mainly enjoy Fire for camping. otherwise? eh."

*

"Exactly that, good for dead growth, some seeds need fire to germinate even," offers Dave, clarly enjoying that topic. Burning wasn't a bad thing in his mind it seeemed by the way he responded to that topic. "You're reasons are yours, Dante, but thanks for your service. I don't think I could have done it." Figuring he's too old now anyways. "Maybe there was a reason, I don't always know, sometimes I like to think there is but then, I don't know." Another shrug, not quite back to how he felt earlier but a little distant, chance is chance. "Maybe you're right, I'll sign up for the tour, hopefully I can afford it." As if its a random thing in general, or he's joking once more.

*

"I imagine we are all gung-ho at one time or another. Sometimes to our own detriment. I speak from my own personal experience of course." Minsun quietly offers. A few more steps are taken in silence and she gives a nod of her head to Dave at his agreement for the tour. "You have only but to tell me when you are ready." Lifting a hand, she pushes some of her hair back from her face and glances further along the path they seem to be on. "Indeed, thank you for the service."

*

Dante seems to smile to both Dave and Minsun as they thank him for his service. "It was my genuine pleasure. Would do it again, if I had the choice." Then to Dave. "It'll be good for you. I'd enlist in helping with the tour but…work work and more work." He smiles softly and just chuckles. "But,it was nice meeting you two. I should hit the road." and prepare for his night job.

*

"It was good to make another acquintance Dante, I'll keep my eyes out for you," a look and grin from Dave, as the other man was more distracted in the earlier near collision, and then he pulls his phone out towards Minsun, "And sure, let me check my calender ugh .. tomorrow looks rather free." His tone indicates he's saying its full, like most people might do. "Then Sunday … completey free, and next week, most evenings, completely free." Then he hands it over, "You should just put your number in real quick, with your name. And a full body shot so I don't forget who you are, I meet so many people these days." Deadpan, and then a little chuckle, "No, I won't forget that face, for a while at least." Seems maybe he jokes when nervous, or just in general, a lot.

*

Minsun gives a smirk to Dave because that sort of snags her attention more than anything and she reaches for the phone to tap in her digits. Once she has, she pulls up the camera and strikes a pose that would make any K-Pop singer proud and hands it back over, dropping it into his hand. "Let's make it Monday. My weekend calendar is full." Family stuff, bleh, but she doesn't elaborate on it. A mock salute is given to the two, "See you gentlemen later." And with an about face that would make anyone in the military proud, she turns and jogs off in a different direction.
